IPM for chillies and shallots in Indonesia: scoping study
Client: Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (with support from the Syngenta Foundation)
Project delivery period: 2014
In late 2014 Paul Horne visited several shallot and chilli production regions in central and eastern Java to determine the potential for developing an IPM approach in these crops.
The conclusions were that insecticide resistance is already severe regarding the key pests in these crops, and that reliance on insecticides alone was going to lead to crop failures; and that there is certainly potential to develop IPM strategies to manage all invertebrate pests in these crops.
